Don't Confuse Courteous With Confirmation

With the year well underway, we are seeing a few recurring statements.

“The reserve has come in way higher than what I was expecting!”

“Those buyer’s said they would be here to register and bid but they’re not here!"

We are all guilty of agreeing to something simply to avoid a hard conversation. As agents, we often fall into this trap of taking our customer's courtesy as consent when in fact they don’t agree at all.

Seek to understand their position and therefore be of better service. Ask questions, ask questions, ask questions, only when we understand their true position can we provide the most appropriate advice.

That way there will be no finger crossing and no surprises on auction day.

All the best,
The Auction Group
